COLEÇÃO "CLÁSSICOS A BRINCAR"

THE MEOWS
This is the first title in a collection that brings together free adaptations of the classics of Portuguese literature for young readers (aged 8 and over). The idea is to give them a first contact with some of the most fundamental works of our literature – which they will later have to read and study at school – in order to create some familiarity with them and make it easier to approach them at a later stage.

AUTO DA BARCA DO CASTIGO
This is the second title in a collection that began in 2007 and brings together free adaptations of Portuguese literary classics for young readers (aged 8 and up).
What if Gil Vicente’s boats took on new colours and shapes and, instead of taking the men and women of the 16th century to Paradise or Hell, took the children of today on a dream holiday or a detention? That’s the idea behind Auto da Barca do Castigo, which allegorically brings to the dock several children who could exist in every school in the country…

EURICO THE INSECT
At a time when the Visigris ruled over all other insects, a very special cricket called Eurico was trying to forget the cricket closest to his heart. He took off his wings and joined the praying mantis to lead a quiet and solitary life in the mountains. But a plague of locusts would end up changing his fate and the fate of his entire species… After the success of The Meows and O Auto da Barca do Castigo – adopted in many schools across the country – now comes the adaptation of the epic Eurico, the Priest. It’s a love story, full of adventure, which turns insects into characters capable of the most daring feats. And even love…

A few centuries later, our planet is still precious and deserves to be protected, but there is increasing destruction and pollution of what is our home, and the home of all plants and animals. That’s why another fish, named Vieira, decided to approach the children and ask for their help once again. And why the children? What is so special about them? FRIAR LIVRINHO DE SOUSA
Can writers love their books? Can a writer fall in love with the works of other writers, to the point of wanting to rewrite them, adapt them, retell them… finish them? That’s what Manuel Livrinho de Sousa did. He finished the story of Lady Madalena, a book that Lord João had started to write before he disappeared on the battlefield and had not been heard from for 21 years. When he, as Pilgrim, finally returns to the pages of his Madalena and discovers that she has a children’s book by another writer, he decides to disappear forever. But the other author also decides to change his life and become Friar Livrinho de Sousa.
