In this rainy weather, you really feel like doing something DIY!
Take advantage of the holiday to create Easter cards, perfect for giving away with chocolate almonds.
Here at home, we’ve made animals hidden inside coloured eggs. But this ‘open and close’ system can be adapted in many other ways.
When you get to work, share photos of your postcards with me. I love seeing the results, which are always so beautiful and creative!
Have a happy and sweet Easter!
WHAT YOU NEED:
Watercolour paper (or a more water-resistant paper, such as cardboard or construction paper)
Scissors
X-acto
Hole puncher
Brushes
Watercolours
Black pen
Coloured pencils
Uhu glue
HOW TO MAKE:
Draw an egg on a piece of paper (printer paper) – You can copy the template here.
Cut out the egg and use it as a template to draw it on the watercolour paper.
Cut out this egg.
Spread water over the paper and brush with watercolour – If you prefer, you can paint with other paints and techniques.
With the help of an x-acto, make some zigzag cuts to separate the egg into two parts.
Draw an animal’s head on the watercolour paper – it can’t be a perfect circle so that the egg can close later.
Cut out the head and paint it, then glue it to the bottom of the egg from behind.
Draw the details of the face.
Using the hole puncher, make a few holes in some coloured paper and glue the dots onto the egg (optional).
Cut out a small rectangle of paper and another piece in the shape of a ‘T’, as shown in the picture.
Pay attention to the measurements! The rectangle should be glued to the bottom of the egg, quite close to the animal’s head.
The glue should only be applied to the edges, so that the ‘T’ can slide through.
Next, the ‘T’ should be inserted into the rectangle and the top of this piece should be glued to the top of the eggshell. In order for it to be in the correct position, this top part should be as open as possible, making a perfect hat for our animal.
And that’s it! Just let it dry and, at any time, our little Easter buddy can come out of the eggshell and delight anyone who receives it!
